I love the way it feels as the liquid runs down my throat, warming me from the inside out. When I’m in the mood for a hot drink, it’s nice to have a variety of flavors to choose from. Here are 6 different hot drinks that are perfect for a winter day.

Orange Apple Cider

3 Ways to Beat the Winter Fitness Blues

B_3WaysToBeatTheFitnessWinterBlues_After a long summer and pleasant fall, it’s exciting to feel the first real day of winter. You get out all your winter boots, sweaters, hat and gloves, ready to drink hot cocoa and enjoy time with family and friends. Around the middle of January things start to change. The cold no longer seems magical, the holidays are over, and it’s now time to get back to school and work. This is when I find it extremely hard to find the motivation to workout. Here are three things that help me fight off the winter fitness blues.

Reward, Reward, Reward

You’re always more willing to work out if you’re excited about the reward. Everyone has something different that motivates them. Some people are motivated by friends, others by shopping or food. Find the reward that will motivate you the most, and set up a schedule. When you feel like skipping a workout, use your reward as motivation.

Keep It Small

Staying healthy during the winter months doesn’t have to be a huge deal. You don’t have to run 5 miles a day to be healthy. Aim to do a workout every day, even if it’s only 5 minutes long. You can do jumping jacks for three 60 second bouts, 60 seconds of push ups, and 60 seconds of plank. Anything that gets your heart rate up is great!

Mix It Up

Doing the same thing every day just gets boring, so try to mix things up. Rotate between walking, cardio circuits, yoga, swimming, running, pilates, zumba, and anything else you can think of. This will make it more interesting, and help improve your overall health.
