The Theory and Details Behind the Clean Diet
The Clean Diet was created by a 45 year old mother that was 60 pounds overweight. After losing the extra 60 pounds from eating right and exercising, and becoming a fitness model, she created the Clean Diet. This diet is based on the notion that if you eat the way nature intended, you will be healthy and feel great.
By eating complex carbohydrates, lean protein and healthy fats, you will feel more satisfied and keep your blood sugar levels in control. This diet does not include counting calories or depriving yourself of food. You get to eat plenty of healthy food that tastes good and fills you up. You can even eat an occasional dessert. The Clean Diet is not just a fad, its a new way of living.

What Health Care Professionals Say About the Clean Diet
Kathleen Zelman, MPH, RD, LD was the national spokesperson for the American Dietetic for 12 years. She reviewed this diet and felt it was a good way to exercise and eat healthy, but it was a little more extreme than she preferred. Because of the restrictive nature of the program, it might be hard for people to follow for a long period of time. She did like the healthy recipes, meals plans and motivation provided with this diet.
Roberta Anding, MS, RD is a nutritionist at the Baylor College of Medicine. She agrees that exercising regularly, drinking lots of water, eating a plant based diet and not skipping meals are all very important for leading a healthy life. However, she feels anything in the Clean Diet that goes beyond this is not necessary and hard to follow.

Name: Felicia Wilbanks ( Story
Felicia had always struggled with her weight. She battled bulimia and anorexia in High School and began to put the weight back on in College. It started to affect her self-confidence and her health, she knew she had to make a change. In January of 2010 she tried to start eating what she thought at the time was healthy, but saw very limited results.
In May 2010 she was introduced to the The Eat-Clean Diet and started implementing the healthy habits taught in the book. She says she never once felt like it was a diet and it was a complete lifestyle change for her. She started walking five days a week and within a few months she was able to start running 15 - 20 miles a week. The weight was melting off and her energy was skyrocketing. She was eating more than she had ever eaten, but it was food that fueled her body instead of draining it. Her original goal to lose 60 pounds by the end of October for a class reunion, she exceeded her goal and has currently lost 75 pounds.
